SPARTA, NJ -  The Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign is in full swing is Sparta.  The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or NHTSA initiative is once again going on in an effort stop drunk driving at the local level. 

In Sparta, a Nutley woman was stopped when Sparta Officer Michael Poon saw a black Hummer weaving on Woodport Road.  On August 16 around 11:45 p.m. Sandra Dennis, 47 was also found to be driving an unregister car, police report.

When Poon spoke with Dennis, the officer found she had been drinking and had her perform field sobriety tests, police said.

Dennis was taken into custody and brought to Sparta Police Department Headquarters for processing.  After being breath tested she was charged with driving while intoxicated, unregistered vehicle, failure to maintain lane, driving while suspended and maintenance of lamps.  She was given a court date and released to a sober adult.

The Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign will continue through Labor Day weekend with high visibility enforcement, pulling over and arresting drunk drivers, according to police.
