SPARTA, NJ – A Sparta man is facing new charges after being stopped for a broken tail light.  On February 26 around 11:30 p.m. Cpl. Kurt Morris stopped Wadim Sakiewicz, 73 in a blue Volkswagen GTI, police said.

Morris learned Sakiewicz had a suspended license and several active warrants out of Sparta, Englewood and Andover, police said.

Sakiewicz was taken into custody and brought to the Sparta Police Department Headquarters for processing.  From prior interaction, Morris was aware that Sakiewicz spoke and understood English.  Now, however, Sakiewicz feigned that he did not speak or understand English and refused to answer questions, police said.
