SPARTA, NJ- A Brooklyn man is facing drug charges when the car in which he was a passenger was stopped for a broken tail light. On January 14 around 2 a.m. Officer Thomas Herd stopped Akeem McKinney, 21 for the broken light on her green Volkswagen, police said.
When Herd spoke with the driver, the officer smelled pot in the car. When the car was searched, Herd found marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Mr. McKinney admitted it was his, police said.
Mr. McKinney was taken into custody and was brought to the Sparta Police Department headquarters for processing. He was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was given a court date and then released.
