SPARTA, NJ –A traffic stop yielded an unlicensed Newark man with a warrant. On August 6 around 10:30 a.m. Officer Matthew Pletcher stopped Jose Gonzalez, 50 because he did not signal his turn on East Shore Trail, police said.

When Pletcher spoke with Gonzalez he found that the driver did not have a license.  When Pletcher checked he found Gonzalez only had a state Identification number, no driver’s license and the ID number had been suspended, police said.

Gonzalez also had a warrant out of Union Township, police said.

Gonzalez was taken into custody and brought to Sparta Police Department Headquarters for processing.  He was charged with failing to signal a turn, failure to change address, unlicensed driver and suspended driver.  Union Township gave him a new court date and he was given a date for Sparta as well before being released.
