SPARTA, NJ – A Newark man with 18 warrants was picked up in a traffic stop on Route 15. On February 10 around 1:30 a.m. Officer Thomas Herd stopped a speeding white Toyota with tinted windows driven by Tyrone Ellison, Jr., 32, police said.
When Herd checked Ellison’s license, the officer found Ellison had 17 outstanding warrants in Newark and one in Elizabeth. He was taken into custody and brought to Sparta Police Department Headquarters for processing, police said.
Ellison was charged with failure to produce documents, driving while suspended, unlicensed driver, speeding, failure to keep right on a highway and obstructed view.
He was given a court date in Sparta. Newark Police Department sent someone from their fugitive warrant squad to pick up Ellison.
