SPARTA, NJ – Both a driver and passenger caught the attention of Sparta Police Officer Steven Guido when they were ashing their cigarettes out of the window while they were driving on Route 15.  On January 10 around 1 p.m. Lords Valley, Pennsylvania resident Kayla Murphy, 25 was stopped in a blue Subaru Impreza, police said.

After pulling her over, Guido saw Honesdale, Pennsylvania resident Lori Wilson,60, trying to hide folds heroin in her purse, in the back seat, police said.

A search of the car and the two women yielded pot and heroin.  Driver Murphy has a small amount of marijuana and passenger Wilson had 23 wax folds of heroin in her purse, police said.

Wilson was charged with possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.  She was given a court date and released.

Murphy was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended, throwing debris from motor vehicles, maintenance of lamps, unlicensed drive and controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, police said.

Murphy had a warrant from Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania for shoplifting.  She was brought to Keogh Dwyer Correctional Facility to wait for extradition to Pennsylvania.
