SPARTA, NJ – A Franklin woman driving south on the northbound side of Route 15 caused a minor accident and is facing drunk driving charges.  On March 15 around 9 p.m. Officer Arlene Lippencott saw Wanda Taylor, 49 hit the driver side fender of a white Suzuki driven by Hisham Albreim, causing Albreim to lose control and go off the road into the grassy median, police report.

Lippencott stopped to help Albreim, alerting other officers that Taylor was headed their way, police said.

Officer Steven Guido got Taylor to stop on the northbound shoulder.  When he spoke with her the officer smelled alcohol on her breath.  Taylor told Guido she had a couple of glasses of wine, police said.

With assistance from another officer, Guido gave Taylor field sobriety tests and then took her into custody.  Taylor was taken to Sparta Police Department Headquarters for processing, police report.

During testing, Taylor complained of a medical condition and was brought to Newton Medical Center.  After being checked out, Taylor was released back into Guido’s custody and brought back to Sparta Police Department Headquarters, according to police.  Police did not provided details about Taylor’s medical issue.

Taylor was charged with DWI, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to keep right, maintenance of lamps, obstructed view, leaving the scene of an accident, driving wrong way on a one way street and failure to report an accident.

Taylor was given a court date and released to a sober adult.
