SPARTA, NJ –A traffic stop for a Swartswood resident ended with drug charges.  On June 14 around 1:30 a.m. Officer Michael Poon stopped Maeghan Tomasula, 21 when he saw the rear license plate in the rear window of the grey Honda Accord, police said.

When Poon spoke with Tomasula he smelled marijuana in the car.  The driver said there had been pot in the car the day before, police said.

A search of the car turned up three bags of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.  Tomasula was taken into custody and brought to Sparta Police Department Headquarters, police said.

Tomasula was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, improper plate display and failure to wear a seat belt.  She was given a court date and released.
