SPARTA, NJ- The Spartan boys team battled Randolph on Wednesday coming out with a 63-59 victory.

It was a strong third period that made the difference between the evenly matched teams.  Both put up 13 points in the first with only a one point Sparta advantage by the half.  Sparta moved to a nine point lead in the third.  Randolph put up five more than Sparta in the final period but it was not enough to get the win.

Aidan Mastandrea was leading force for Sparta sinking 10 in the paint and two from three point range for 26 points.  Mike Piwko added 18 with five 2-pointers, two 3-pointers and two from the foul line. Rasir Scott had 10 points for Sparta.

The boys will host Mendham on Friday with a 7 p.m. tip off.  Sparta’s record moves to 4-2.
