MOUNT OLIVE, NJ – After winning their Holiday tournament Spartans move back to their regular schedule to defeat the Marauders 58-29 on Friday. This game was made even more important as Coach Cathie Wille reached win number 100.
The team prepared posters and cupcakes to celebrate the milestone.
When Captain Delaney Forziati asked Wille how she felt getting her 100th win, Wille said, "Once I realized that I had reached the 100th win it was awesome. I have to give credit to all of the current and former players adn my coaching staff."
Captain Olivia Bouma-Hannam said, “Coach Wille deserves all good things that comes to her because of all the time she dedicates to her players. She’s a coach I’ll never forget playing for who has taught me what it means to give your all, all the time. Congrats Coach Wille."
“I am so grateful to have Coach Willie as one of my coaches for the past four years," Forziati said. "She has motivated me beyond belief and pushed me to my greatest potential. It feels great to know I was a part of the process to get her to her 100th win and I cannot think of anyone who deserved this more than her.”
The girls were led offensively by Mason Muniear and Ally Sweeney with 16 points each. Muniear had all two pointers, two rebounds, two assists and two steals. Sweeney had two free throws in the mix, as well as eight assists and four steals.
Alexa Acker and Bouma -Hannam each added four points and contributed defensively as well. Acker had eight rebounds and two blocks. Bouma-Hannam pulled in seven rebounds.
Brynn Curry added nine points with four rebounds, two assists and a steal. Bailey Chapman had seven points, an assist and a block.
Captain Olivia Bouma-Hannam also asked Wille how it felt to get win number 100 Wille said, she felt, "very proud to work with such an incredible group of young ladies and an awesome coaching staff. I couldn’t have done it without everybody.”
The girls will travel to Warwick, New York on Monday for a 6:30 p.m. game.
