SPARTA, NJ – The Sparta High School boys soccer team defeated Pope John on Thursday 2-1.  The boys had two wins and a loss for the week, having also beaten Warren Hills and lost to Dover.

Playing on the Lion’s turf the Spartans scored in each half.   Nick  Hornyak and Carlen RIvielle got past Pope John’s keeper with assistance from Joe Collins and Kex Helmer.

Sparta goalie Alban Ukaj had four stops.

The boys are 4-7.  They will host Livingston on Saturday.
