SPARTA, NJ – The six seed Sparta High School girls soccer team held 18 seed North Warren scoreless on Saturday 4-0 in the first round of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex tournament. On Wednesday, Sparta lost a close one to Morristown 3-2.
It was a team effort with four different Spartans finding the back of the net. Jess Schoenfeld, Rebecca Lefkowitz, Sarah Amideneau and Kate Mazzella. Olivia Enderle, Amideneau each has an assist. Mazzella contributed with two assists as well.
Teige Kellenberger stopped the only North Warren shot. The Spartans worked the Patriots’ keeper putting up 25 shots on goal.
In the game against Morristown, Alisa Williamson scored both Spartan goals, assisted by Schoenfeld and Mazzella at their Pink Game to support Breast Cancer Awareness.
Kellenberger was in net for Sparta. She stopped seven Colonial shots.
Sparta’s record is not 6-4-2. They will play at Vernon on Tuesday.
