SPARTA, NJ – The Sparta High School girls tennis team has put together a winning season so far.  They are undefeated in their conference with one loss to Randolph 4-1. All but one of their wins was a shut out. 

Sparta shut out High Point on Tuesday 5-0.

Singles:

  • First singles – Alexa Matkiwsky won 6-0, 6-1
  • Second singles – Reagan Rech won 6-0, 6-0
  • Third singles – Jenna Bargfrede won 6-2, 6-1

Doubles:

  • First doubles – Gabby Canzoniero and Paige Markvicka won 6-2, 6-0
  • Second doubles – Sarah Bargfrede and Jordan Bucenec won 6-1, 6-4

According to coach Andrew Lowrey the girls finished third in the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex tournament.  They are looking forward to learning their seeding for states this week, he said.

The girls will play at Blair on Saturday at 1 p.m.
