STOCKHOLM, NJ – The Sparta Jefferson United ice hockey team defeated Kinnelon, 4-3, on Friday at Skylands Ice World.  Three SJU players combine to get all four points.

SJU’s took advantage of power plays to get their first two goals.  Matthew Espinosa got past the Colt’s goalie assisted by Matthew Francescutto and Kyle Sutton to get SJU on the board.

Sutton was next to score on an assist from Francescutto. The two would pair up again for the only second period goal, with 9 seconds left on the clock to bring it back to a tie.

Francesutto got the go-ahead goal in the third assisted by Sutton.

SJU goalie Logan Hanek stopped 23 Kinnelon shots.  Hanek has seen 477 shots this season with 438 saves. SJU put 33 shots on the Colt’s goalie.

SJU’s record is 3-6-3.
