The Veritas Christian Academy (Sparta, NJ) boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball teams will travel today down to the Baltimore, Maryland area to compete in the Perry Hall Christian School Tip-Off tournament this weekend to begin their seasons.  Each tournament has 12 teams competing for the title. Both Veritas teams will play Key School from Annapolis, MD on Saturday in the first round.  The Veritas women’s team will play at 11:00 AM and the Veritas men’s team will play at 5:30 PM. 

There will be initial pool play and each team will advance, depending on their success, to the semi-finals and finals.

This tip-off tournament is one of six tournaments for the Veritas women’s basketball team which is coming off a very successful season and returning three starters.  The Lady Lions will also play in the Ross Corners Invitational (New York), Valley Forge University Christmas Tournament (Valley Forge, PA), their conference tournament, Mid-East Regional Christian Schools tournament (Baltimore, MD) and the National Christian Schools Championship (Mount Vernon, OH).

The Veritas men’s basketball team, who returns four starters from last year, will play in four additional tournaments joining the Lady Lions at the Ross Corners Invitational, their conference tournament, Mid-East Regional Christian Schools tournament and the National Christian Schools Championship as well as compete at the Bergen County Christian Invitational (Hackensack, NJ).

Each team will also play a strong out-of-conference schedule.
