NEW YORK -- At this year’s New York International Auto Show, TAPintoTV spoke with Carly Connors, Executive Director of the Saratoga Automobile Museum. Along with celebrating historic cars, the museum educates the public about the role of the automobile both in New York State and worldwide. This year, the museum is holding a sweepstakes at its Annual Auto Auction to win a 2017 Maserati

Founded in 1999, the museum changes its exhibits twice a year. Currently, they are showcasing the cars of the 1960s and the history of automobile racing in New York, among other exhibits. Next month, the museum will be hosting two signature events: their Third Annual Auto Auction, and a special evening with British racing driver, David Hobbs

Hobbs has provided commentary for motorsports coverage on NBC and voiced the character “Hobbscap” in Disney Pixar’s Cars 2. The evening will include a cocktail reception and dinner, and will also feature Bob Varsha and Judy Stropus. Varsha has covered virtually every type of motorized competition in the world, and most recently provided on-air commentary for the all-electric Formula E racing series. Stropus is a celebrated racing driver who was portrayed in the movie “Cannonball Run.” The event will be held on Friday, September 19.

At the museum’s annual Auto Auction, which will be held September 20 & 21, about 350 cars will be auctioned off. This year, a sweepstakes competition will be held, in which guests have a chance to win a Maserati. Other upcoming events include the Auto X Lawn Car Show on September 22 and a Wine & Food Festival Rally in early October.

“Everybody has a story about a car,” said Connors. “Everybody remembers the first car they drove, the car they brought to the Prom, the car that took them away after they got married,” she continued. “I like the stories that people have about cars.”
