SPRINGFIELD, NJ - Keep reading for the information and announcements you need to know from this week's Springfield Township Committee meeting:

  • With the end of the summer, twice per week garbage collection has now stopped. Garbage pickups are now back to once per week, either on Thursday or Friday. Recycling will remain on Wednesday.
  • Electronic recycling will continue to be held on the first and third Saturday of each month at the pool.
  • The town farmers market will continue in front of the library through Oct. 28. Hours are 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Springfield is invited to a free community dinner the second Wednesday of every month. all food is provided free of charge by Abundant Life Church, located at 35 Fadem Road, Springfield, NJ. The dinner will run from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • The Madison Health Department will hold screenings on Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. Appointments are required, call (973) 593-3079 ext. 1 for more info.
  • Union County's Red Ribbon Drug Prevention Walk will be held in Cranford on Oct. 19 from 10:00a.m. to 2:00 p.m. All residents are encouraged to stop by.
