Bowling: Dayton's Evan Weinberg Qualifies for Tournament of Champions

LINDEN, NJ - At Friday's NJSIAA North II boys Bowling Sectional Tournament at Jersey Lanes, the top two teams in each group have advanced to the Team Tournament of Champions on February 12 and the top 12 individuals advanced to the Individual Tournament of Champions (TOC) on February 14.

The Bulldogs’ Evan Weinberg made it into the Individual TOC by finishing fourth.  The Bulldogs finished third in Group I, one place out of qualifying.

Evan Weinberg rolled 673 for the three games.  That was seven behind third place Bobby Critides of Glen Ridge and 20 behind second place Nick Thies of Jefferson.  Michael Liu of Livingston finished first with a three-game total of 758 and a high game of 279.

The Bulldogs rolled a three-game total of 2,662, which was 84 short of second place Abraham Clark High School’s total score of 2,746.  A.L. Johnson finished first with a total score of 2,783.

The fourth-place team was James Caldwell with a total of 2,489 and in fifth place was Oratory Prep with a total score of 2,419.

The Group IV qualifying teams are Union High School and Livingston.  In Group III, Linden and Morris Knoll qualified.  For Group II, the qualifiers were Union Catholic and Montville. is Springfield’s free daily news source.
