SPRINGFIELD, NJ - Senior guard Joe Kastner only tallied six points Saturday afternoon, but his last two were the most important for the Dayton boys basketball team.
Kastner converted a layup with 10 seconds remaining to lift Dayton to a dramatic 53-51 victory over Roselle Park, 53-51, in Springfield.
Senior guard Nick Ulizio continued his hot play, scoring a game-high 22 points with six 3-pointers and junior guard Antonio Salcfas added 17 points, including 10 in the second half, for Dayton (7-6), which has won three of its last four games and improved to 6-3 at home.
Earlier this month, Roselle Park edged Dayton at home, 54-53, on Jan. 12.
Junior Enzo Brutus scored a team-high 16 points and juniors Kevin Cadet and Peter Talbot each added 12 points apiece for Roselle Park (8-8), which has lost two of its last three and four of its last six games.
This week, three games are on the schedule for the Bulldogs, starting with a visit to Clark to face Johnson on Tuesday at 7 p.m., back home on Thursday for a rematch with Oratory at 7 p.m., and again on Mountain Avenue for a 1 p.m. Saturday showdown with Paterson Catholic.
