SECAUCUS , NJ – The number five seed Jonathan Dayton Bulldogs beat the number three seed Secaucus Patriots in the final of the NJSIAA North 2, Group 1 Tournament Friday. 

This was the third year in a row the Bulldogs made the finals and the second second year in a row, they won the tournament on their opponent’s home turf. 

Both teams allowed just two goals in their first three tournament games.  This game had more offense. Dayton took 18 shots on goal and Secaucus took 14.

The Bulldogs were led by senior Captain Anthony Nagy’s hat trick.  He also had two assists. 

Senior Diogo Barros added two goals and an assist.  Sophomore Ian Dragowitz scored the other goal and senior Captain Bryce Forys added two assists. 

The Bulldogs goalie senior Will Hodic turned away 12 of the 14 shots. 

The Patriots’ two goals were scored by Gabriel Chaves and Daniel Youn assisted on one goal.  Their goalie William Postel turned back 12 of the 18 shots he faced.

The Bulldogs face North 1, Group 1 winner Pompton Lakes in a 7:30 p.m. at Indian Hills Tuesday.  They were the number one seed in their tournament. 

The winner of that games goes on to play the winner of the Central, Group  1 Tournament, which will either be number one seed Highland Park or number two seed Asbury Park, and the winner of the South, Group 1 Tournament number one seed Glassboro High School.

The final game will be played at Kean University Sunday November 19 at 5:30 p.m.

Dayton is now 18-3-1 on the season.

Woman Struck by Car in Bridgewater Mall Parking Lot Dies

Bridgewater, NJ - A Bedminster woman has died from her injuries after she was struck by a car in the parking lot of the Bridgewater Commons Mall Monday.

Marion Kelley, 62, was struck by a vehicle while walking in lot four near the Macy's merchandise pick up area at around 3:20 p.m. Monday.
