Campaign Ad Distorts Tom Malinowski's Position on Gun Safety

I recently received a flyer in the mail sent out by a Democratic candidate running in the Congressional primary intended to raise questions about Tom Malinowski’s commitment to common-sense gun laws.

The flyer accuses Malinowski of using “NRA talking points.” Really? Malinowski wants to ban assault rifles and pass universal background checks, among other common-sense gun violence prevention methods. He was endorsed by Mom’s Demand Action as a “gun sense candidate”  and marched with Union County students in the March for Our Lives in Washington DC.

This flyer is misleading, and I find it troubling that a candidate would feel comfortable sending out such deceptive information to voters. I think it’s a bad thing when Congressman Lance does it and I’m not partisan enough to give a Democrat a freebie.

I’m supporting Tom Malinowski on Tuesday, and no spurious flyer can change my mind about voting for a candidate who stands up against the NRA. On this day especially, “Wear Orange” for National Gun Violence Awareness Day, let’s not be fooled by misleading campaign ads.

Tom Malinowski is the candidate who has the best chance at defeating Leonard Lance this November. I look forward to voting for Tom Malinowski in the primaries on Tuesday, June 5.
