UNION, NJ – A car rammed into a home on Cedar Avenue Friday morning seriously injuring all six occupants.
According to Union Fire Chief Mike Scanio, a call about a one-car motor vehicle accident was received at 7:17 Friday morning. When firefighters arrived at the home on the corner of Cedar Avenue and Vauxhall Road, they found the six occupants from the vehicle on the front lawn.
At a press conference at the scene, Scanio said all six were transported to area hospitals. He reported that two of the occupants are in critical condition. The other four are in serious, but stable condition. Scanio said he believes all of the injured are from one family. He said the occupants of the vehicle included one adult and five children, ranging in age from 6 to 18 years old. No details on their identification is yet available.
Scanio said a Special Operations team determined the outside of the home to be comprised and firefighters reinforced the wall temporarily. One person was home at the time of the accident. According to Scanio, that person was uninjured.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Union Police Department.
