CRANFORD, NJ  – The Cranford Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association, Local 37 has generously established a scholarship with the Union County College Foundation. This newly endowed scholarship will provide financial support for a firefighter or their family member to obtain their associate degree at Union County College. The Cranford Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association has donated to the Foundation since 1997.

The first award from this scholarship will be given one year after the completion of the endowment, which is scheduled for fall 2018. To qualify for the scholarship, a Union student must be taking a full or part-time schedule of classes. They must be a firefighter or a family member of someone in the Fire Service, either paid or volunteer. Cranford residents will be given first preference; however, if there is no one to fulfill that criteria, the scholarship will be open to anyone in Union County that meets the other requirements of the scholarship.

Firefighters are vital to the safety and well-being of the towns of Union County. By establishing this scholarship, the Foundation can distribute funds to support the educational needs of firefighters. Union County College President Margaret M. McMenamin said of the scholarship, “The College is proud of our firefighters and all they do to serve and protect the citizens of our local communities. We welcome firefighters, and their families, as students and are happy to have them further their education at Union.”

For more information on how you can support the Cranford Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association, Local 37 Scholarship, please contact the Union County College Foundation at (908) 709-7505 or email foundation@ucc.edu.
