KENILWORTH, NJ - In a big way Thursday, the Dayton baseball team finished over the .500 mark for the first time this season.
Senior Vinny Pulice posted two doubles with three RBI and junior Zach Gelo added three singles with three runs scored to power Dayton to a 15-5 victory over rival Brearley in Kenilworth.
The 15 runs scored were the most thus far this season for Dayton (3-2), which has won two straight games.

Senior Jacob Pereira had two singles with two RBI and a run scored and junior Tommy Saverino recorded two hits with a triple, three RBI and two runs scored for the Bulldogs, which had scored a combined 10 runs in the fifth and sixth innings after Brearley had tied the game at 5-5 with five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Junior Michael Cacioppo had two singles with two runs scored, senior Aidan Elgrably scored a game-high four runs and junior Darren Teixeira contributed two singles in the win.
Gelo pitched an inning in relief with one walk to pick up the win.
Brearley (2-3) has dropped two of its last three games.
The Bulldogs continue their stretch of three games in three days as it hosts Roselle this afternoon at historic Ruby Field with first pitch set for 4:00 p.m.
Dayton returns to Ruby on Saturday for a 10:00 a.m. tilt against Johnson.
Bulldog Bites: Cacioppo leads the team in hits (five) and RBI (five) and is tied for the team lead in stolen bases with Saverino (six) … Saverino is the team leader in runs scored (six) … Pulice has four hits, all doubles, and four RBI … With Thursday’s win, Dayton head coach Michael Abbate (10th season) eclipsed the 150 career win mark (151-77).
