SPRINGFIELD, NJ - The Dayton baseball team is over the .500 mark for the first time this season.

Sophomore Michael Cacioppo continued his steady and solid play with three hits and two RBI and seniors Jack Quinn, Will Hodic and Anthony Santucci each had two hits apiece to lead Dayton to a 12-10 victory over rival and neighbor Brearley Monday at historic Ruby Field in Springfield.

The Bulldogs (4-3) have won four straight games, after dropping its first three of the season.

Junior Vinny Pulice scattered 10 hits over five innings with six earned runs, five walks and two strikeouts to get the win.

Union County Tournament starts Thursday

Dayton found out late Monday night that they received the 16th-seed and will host 17th-seeded Roselle Catholic in the preliminary round of the Union County Tournament on Thursday with first pitch set for 4 p.m.

Dayton defeated Roselle Park at home, 15-4, last Saturday.

The winner advances to Saturday’s first round and will visit top-seeded Westfield (TBA).

The Bulldogs will continue its four-game home stand with regular season matchups against neighbor Summit on Wednesday and Linden on Friday. Both games are set for 4 p.m.
