Dayton Boys Soccer Beats Division Rival Oratory Prep 3-2 and Goes to 8-1-1 on the Season

SUMMIT, NJ – The Jonathan Dayton boys soccer team saw its shut-out streak end but still won its second division game in two days, beating Oratory Prep 3-2 on their field.  The Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead in the first half only to have Oratory Prep tie the game in the second half.  Captain Anthony Nagy scored the final goal with eight minutes left on an assist by Elie Kapengut.

Nagy scored the first goal of the game on an assist by Captain Bryce Forys.  The second goal was scored by Ian Drogowitz on an assist by Nagy.

Oratory Prep’s goals were scored by Joseph Cranley and William Mainente.  Nicholas Jardim assisted on a goal.

The Bulldog’s goalie Will Hodic made eight saves, while Oratory Prep’s goalie Billy Skinner made seven saves. 

The Bulldogs are now 8-1-1 on the season and 4-1 in their division.  They face New Providence High School Thursday in a 4:00 p.m. home game. 

Their next Union County Tournament game for the Bulldogs is a first round match is 4:00 p.m. Saturday at sixth seed Scotch Plains-Fanwood, which beat the 19 seed Roselle Catholic 13-0.  The winner of that game plays at the third seed Cranford High School on October 14 in a quarterfinal game.  Oratory Prep is seeded 12th and they face fifth seeded Summit High School Saturday at 2 p.m.  The winner of that game plays fourth seeded Governor Livingston High School in a quarterfinal game.
