SPRINGFIELD, NJ - The Dayton boys soccer team notched another shutout victory to its state title run Thursday.

Senior forward Chito Jaykwaan and junior forward/midfielder Jagger Kebea each scored two goals apiece to propel top-seeded Dayton to a 5-0 victory over eighth-seeded Palisades Park in the quarterfinals of the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 1 tournament on Mountain Avenue Thursday.

Dayton (12-5-1), which is 4-1-1 in its last six games (including two straight shutouts) and 10-2-1 in its last 13, will host fourth-seeded Glen Ridge (11-3-1) in the sectional semifinals Monday with a scheduled start time of 4 p.m.

Jaykwaan dished out two assists, Kebea added another and junior midfielder/forward Ian Drogowitz rounded out the Bulldogs scoring with a goal in the 74thminute. Junior midfielder Christian Mancini and junior midfielder David Tjan each added one assist apiece and sophomore goalie Cole Kebea recorded four saves in the win.

“We had a good game from start to finish. Everyone came out of the game healthy and we are happy to be where we are at,” said Dayton head coach Felix Fabiano. “We are looking forward to playing in the semifinal match Monday versus Glen Ridge. It should be a very tough game between two of the better Group 1 programs in the state.

Glen Ridge, which has won five straight and is 6-1-1 in its last eight games, defeated 12th-seeded Whippany Park, 3-1, Thursday at Watsessing Park in Bloomfield as senior midfielder Modesto Nogueira had one goal with an assist and sophomore midfielder Travis Burnett added another score in the win.
