Dayton Boys Track: Cohen, Lico, Mestanza, Stavick named to UCC All-Valley Division Team

SPRINGFIELD, NJ - Some individual honors were picked up by the Jonathan Dayton boys track team late last month.

Four Bulldogs were named to the Union County Conference (UCC) All-Valley Division team.  They were:

  • Junior Adam Cohen for the 3200 meters.
  • Sophomore Joani Lico for the Discus.
  • Senior Fabian Mestanza for the 1600 meters.
  • Sophomore CJ Stavick for the High Jump.

Coach Matt VanDuersen added, “Senior Fabian Mestanza will continue his running career at The College of New Jersey this fall.” 

The boys track team finished fourth in the NJSIAA North II Group I State Sectional Championships, and five boys broke five minutes in the mile.  They were Mestanza (four minutes 35 seconds), Cohen (4:48), Sophomore Christian Mancini (4:53), Juniors Pablo Galao-Birkman (4:58) and James Tiu (4:58).
