SPRINGFIELD—Democratic candidate for Township Committee Chris Capodice today released his plan to reduce waste and save taxpayer dollars by making Springfield’s government more accessible to residents and more efficient.

Capodice stated, “As a member of the Township Committee, one of my top priorities will be making sure that your government is transparent and accessible to everyone. The current Republican Committee has cancelled the public planning meetings that gave Springfield residents time to express their opinions, taken meetings that used to be televised off the air, and let our township website become obsolete. This makes it difficult to stay up-to-date on what’s happening in town, and prevents you from telling your representatives how you feel about policies that affect you and your family.

“I have a plan to increase transparency and access to the Township Committee by bringing back the public planning meetings that the Republicans canceled. I believe good leadership starts with listening, and these meetings provide an essential opportunity for residents to make their voices heard.

“I will also use my 25 years of experience in television production to revamp our live broadcasts of public meetings. We have state-of-the-art TV equipment, but right now it’s collecting dust in a basement at Town Hall. I will put that equipment to use broadcasting all public meetings live so that you can stay informed about the issues that affect our community.

“Finally, I will update the Springfield township website to provide more information and services online. Our current website is embarrassingly obsolete and much of the information on it is out of date. I will revamp the site to make it easier to navigate, make sure all the information posted online is accurate, and expand the services we offer through the web to increase efficiency and flexibility to help keep our property taxes in check.

“I believe your representatives on the Township Council should be working for all of Springfield. That means, if elected, I will do everything I can to make sure you have up to date information about what happens here. It also means creating more opportunities for you to make your voice heard. Bringing back planning meetings, broadcasting all public meetings, and modernizing our township website are all smart solutions that will make your government more honest, accessible, and efficient.”
