SPRINGFIELD, NJ - With one game remaining on its home schedule, the Jonathan Dayton football team certainly didn’t want this outcome Friday night.
Senior running back Nasir Reese had 10 carries for 180 yards with three touchdowns and senior quarterback Jihad Byrd completed 6-of-9 passes for 141 yards and two TDs to lead Hillside to its first road win of the season, a 47-0 victory over the Bulldogs in Springfield.
Dayton (1-5), which has lost two straight games, fell to 0-4 at home and has one game remaining on Mountain Avenue versus South Hunterdon in its home and season finale on Friday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m.
The Comets (3-3) have won two straight games and posted its first road win of the season in three tries.
Hillside has won two of the last three meetings with its Union County foe, including a 12-7 home victory in 2014. Last season, the Bulldogs won its season opener by forfeit to Hillside.

Dayton begins a two-game road trip on Saturday, Oct. 22 at Roselle with a scheduled kickoff slated for 2 p.m., followed by a night contest at Bound Brook on Friday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m.
