PISCATAWAY, NJ - How time flies.
Four years ago to the day, former Dayton standout Anthony Cioffi was at Rutgers Athletic Center hoping to lift the Dayton boys basketball team to a Group 1 state title.
This morning, the former Bulldog was back in a different arena, inside the Rutgers indoor practice bubble, for a shot at making his professional football dream a reality.

Cioffi was among 13 former Scarlet Knights to participate in Rutgers’ NFL Pro Day for a chance to make a first impression for over 30+ NFL scouts and personnel through a series of individual tests, including the 40-yard dash, vertical leap, bench press, and cone/positional drills prior to the upcoming NFL Draft in Philadelphia, April 27-29.
Cioffi, the 5-foot-11, 205-pound four-year defensive back, tallied 168 tackles, two and a half sacks, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and eight interceptions in a stellar “do-it-all” 47-game career at Rutgers.
“I’m relieved it's over, but always wish I could improve,” said Cioffi. “I am going to take a few days for myself, relax, and then hit training hard until the NFL Draft. Going to do a local day doing defensive back drills with Jets and Giants and then it’s just a matter of waiting for feedback from teams around the league.”
Cioffi’s Pro Day numbers:
4.22 20-yard shuttle
4.50 40-yard dash
11.40 60-yard shuttle
6.90 3 Cone
27.5” vertical jump

15 reps on 225-pound bench press
