Opera fans, the Friends of the Westfield Memorial Library have a program for you. For another year the Friends are sponsoring a Wednesday subscription series to the Metropolitan Opera at Lincoln Center in New York. Registration for the 2017-18 season is now open for members of the Friends of the Westfield Memorial Library. (Not a Friend, for $25 become a member and you can benefit from this wonderful program too.) Choice of ticket prices range from $198 (Family Circle) to over $2,000 (Orchestra) per series.
The upcoming 2017-18 season will have eight evening performances (Oct 18: Les Contes D’Hoffmann, Nov 8: Turandot, Nov 29: Verdi Requiem, Jan 10: Le Nozze Di Figaro, Feb 7: L’Elisir D’Amore, Mar 14: Semiramide, Apr 11: Lucia Di Lammermoor, May 9: Romeo Et Juliette.)
For as little as $25 per performance you can experience one of the best opera houses in the world. Roundtrip bus transportation, leaving at 5:00 PM from Westfield to Lincoln Center is an additonal cost, $25 - $30 depending on the number of participants, to the series price. The Met Opera deadline for holding the current subscription seating is March 27, 2017. Subscribers still can join after this date and the Met will assign best remaining seats on a first come first serve basis.
One subscription series may be shared by two or more persons. Alternatively, a subscriber can change one or more operas to other ones on the list to enjoy them together with a friend or spouse.
If a participant cannot attend an opera, the ticket may be exchanged through the Met subscription office or sold to someone else. The opera group maintains a “Standby List” of people who have expressed an interest in buying tickets for individual operas.
To participate in this wonderful Met Opera program as subscriber or a Standby and would like more information, please contact Ulf Dolling at 908-654-5737 or email@example.com by March 20.
