Hobby Lobby's Springfield Store to Open Labor Day

SPRINGFIELD, NJ - The "coming soon" signs were tantalizing to see on Route 22 East in Springfield.  A corporate spokesman said the store would open at 9 a.m. on Labor Day, September 4.  He added there will be an opening day celebration with refreshments served.  They are hoping for a big turnout.

Hobby Lobby is a national chain that describes itself as an “arts and crafts store that also sells fabric, and home décor”. 

It is a privately held company based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. There are three stores within a thirteen mile radius of Springfield including South Iselin, South Plainfield and Totowa, New Jersey.

Hobby Lobby operates more than 750 locations in 47 states. According to its website, the company is on track to open 60 new stores this year and they expect that to create more than 2,000 additional jobs for a company that employees 10,000 full-time employees and 10,000 part-time employees.  At Hobby Lobby, a full-time employee earns at least $15.70 per hour, and a part-time employee earns $10.45 an hour.
