Imagine, A Center for Coping with Loss, began its 6th year of providing grief support to over 250 children and adults.  Currently operating on 5 different nights of support, Imagine provides free peer support groups for children, families and young adults after the death of a parent or sibling, as well as support for families living with a life-altering illness.

Imagine utilizes the generous time given by over 90 volunteers to facilitate the support groups.  These volunteers pledge 4 hours every other week to be the loving listeners that grieving people need.  After a 4-day, 32-hour training, volunteers are able to create the safe environment for all participants to share memories, express feelings and explore coping strategies.

Now in its new location in Mountainside, Imagine is able to provide support for many more grieving families. “Since moving into a newly renovated space with rooms specifically designed to support grieving children and families, we have seen an almost 20% increase in interest in the program. Clearly, there is a need for support and we are honored to be able to provide it,” said Mandi Zucker, Imagine’s Program Director.

Imagine provides free year-round peer grief support for more than 250 children and adults from 48 NJ towns every two weeks and every year provides training, education, and on-site support to over 2500 teachers, parents, students, employees, social workers, counselors and members of community organizations.  For more information contact us at info@imaginenj.org or visit Imagine’s website at www.imaginenj.org.
