Jazz Pianist Cohen to Lower Curtain on St. John’s Summit Concert Series' Third Season June 3

SUMMIT, NJ - Emmet Cohen will make makes his return to Summit -- and lower the curtain on season three of St. John’s Summit Concert Series (SJSCS) -- when he take the stage June 3 at 7 p.m. Cohen is an American jazz pianist and composer who dazzles audiences with his showmanship and nimble playing.

“We are so excited to welcome Emmet Cohen back to the St. John’s Summit Concert Series,” said SJSCS President Kenneth Bryson. “His performance last season was a true joy, combining musicality and humor that kept the audience riveted.”

In January 2016, the Emmet Cohen Trio treated Summit to an evening of dinner and jazz, including interpretations on jazz standards. This year, Cohen is coming back to perform an “Evening of Sinatra,” featuring the vocal stylings of Benny Bennack, III, and working their way through Frank Sinatra’s song book.

Having studied under some of the jazz greats Cohen, when he’s not in the studio or performing for live audiences, facilitates the inter-generational transfer of musical knowledge by producing and directing multidisciplinary high school YoungArts programs nationally.
