BERGENFIELD, NJ – In a three team competition, the Jonathan Dayton Golf team faced Bergenfield and Hackensack yesterday at Knickerbocker Country Club in Bergenfield Tuesday. The Bulldogs won the match, which was the team’s second match of four in a row this week.  The wins push the team’s record to 7-1.

Leading the team was senior Adam Berkowitz who shot a 40.  Coach Campbell said, “Adam is our most improved golfer.  This is his second season ever playing golf and he has already broken 80 on a legitimate golf course.”

The other member of Dayton’s starting twosome, senior Daniel Griess shot a 43.  Rounding out the top four scores were a 48 from senior Jake Zeiman and a 54 from senior Lee Roth.  Seniors Connor Mahoney and Alex Sirotkin shot 55 and 60, respectively.  Sirotkin was the alternate.

Dayton is attempting to qualify for the NJSIAA Boys Sectional Golf Championships. In 2016, teams needed to win at least 60% of their matches to qualify.  Tuesday’s performance increase the likelihood the Bulldogs will qualify for the NJSIAA Boys Sectional Golf Championship.

Dayton has two more matches this week.  Wednesday, the Bulldogs are back at Galloping Hill to face the Elizabeth Minutemen.  The last match of the week is Thursday when the Bulldogs face the Summit Hilltoppers at Ashbrook Golf Club.
