SPRINGFIELD, NJ - It’s always a big deal when Curious George comes to town, which is exactly what he did this past Saturday, September 30th, at the special invitation of Kiddie Academy of Springfield, NJ.
The event, which started at 10 a.m. on September 30th at Echo Lake Park in Mountainside, included not only an appearance by Curious George (who came ready with lots of bananas to hand out), but also a lot of information about Kiddie Academy, and lots of good story time.
“We’re just so thrilled that everybody came out!” exclaimed Nancy Kovacs, director of Kiddie Academy of Springfield.
According to its website, Kiddie Academy was founded in 1981 by co-founder Pauline Miller in Baltimore County, Maryland in an effort to provide better child care options. It obtained approval to franchise its system in 1991. There are now Kiddie Academies in 24 states.
The opening for Springfield Kiddie Academy has been delayed from its original September 1 planned opening. Kovacs did not specify the reason for the delay, except to note that the delays were due to factors “beyond our control,” but that they were “keeping on everybody, and making progress.” She declined to give a specific date in October, noting the need for building inspections yet to be scheduled. “But we’re secure in saying October, and look forward to being an awesome service to the community of Springfield and surrounding communities as well.”
