WESTFIELD, N.J. --- Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) is hosting a student leadership conference on Saturday, April 29 at Mountainside Borough Hall.  Lance is inviting high school students from across the Seventh Congressional District to participate in a morning of hands-on activities and speeches about current events and issues facing the Nation.  New Jersey State Senate Republican Leader Tom Kean, Jr. will be serving as the conference’s keynote speaker.

Nearly 100 students joined us last year to learn about lawmaking and governing.  At this conference, students will be put in the role of lawmaker – tasked with balancing the federal budget and reforming tax policy while weighing the priorities of the Nation.  All students interested in public policy and politics should participate.” said Lance.

Lance and Kean will discuss public policy ideas and lessons for students interested in public service.  Lance will also oversee an interactive federal budget exercise where students will review current spending and tax policies and suggest priorities for the country through evidence and by applying their own policy interests.
