Upon further investigation, this subject, Danny Gonzalez was found in possession of burglary tools and proceeds from recent thefts from vehicles in that area.

O'Dowd added that Gonzalez was subsequently charged with a 2016 motor vehicle theft, saying, "He was also arrested and processed on a Theft of a Motor Vehicle charge from a Lorraine Avenue incident in 2016."

Upon investigation, Montclair Police Officers maintain that Gonzalez is alleged to have been responsible for 22 vehicle burglaries and the theft of two motor vehicles in Montclair.

"These burglaries occurred in the areas of Cooper Avenue, Gordonhurst Avenue, Marion Road and Beverly Road. He was subsequently charged with 13 counts of Burglary and 15 counts of Theft," according to a release.

"There have been 8 recent arrests in incidents involving thefts from motor vehicles," said O'Dowd. "A majority of these arrestees are repeat offenders, arrested for thefts from motor vehicles. In almost every case, the vehicles in question had been left unlocked."

The Montclair Police took this opportunity to once again remind residents to lock vehicles. "We remind all residents to lock their vehicles while unattended. We also advise against storing valuables in the passenger compartment of vehicles," he added.
