SUMMIT, NJ - Departure times have been detailed for the previously announced NJ Transit bus service beginning July 10 -- from the Summit train station into the New York Port Authority Bus Terminal -- coinciding with the Penn Station repair initiative.

Five buses, one each half hour between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m., will depart Summit train station from Railroad Avenue. Signs will be posted directing commuters where to board the buses, with customers able to use discounted rail tickets and passes -- with Hoboken destinations --  on the buses.

According to a City of Summit spokesperson, the buses will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, with one bus planned for each departure time (7 / 7:30 / 8 / 8:30 and 9 a.m.). As the program moves forward, buses may be added should demand exceed capacity.

The alternate transportation option -- designed to accommodate Hilltop City commuters during the upcoming Amtrak Penn Station repairs -- is a morning inbound service only, and customers returning from New York in the afternoon and evening should travel to Hoboken via PATH or NY Waterway ferry for westbound Morris & Essex trains or board regularly scheduled buses at the Port Authority Bus Terminal.
