OZONE PARK, N.Y —- Ogden Phipps, II, a fourth generation Thoroughbred owner and breeder, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the New York Racing Association. Phipps replaces celebrity chef and Thoroughbred owner Bobby Flay.

Phipps is the son of former NYRA Chairman Ogden Mills (Dinny) Phipps who also served the sport as president of the Jockey Club.

The new NYRA director co-owns and manages the Phipps Family Stable that is headquartered at Belmont Park. The 40-year-old Phipps is a co-founder and partner of Snow Phipps, a New York City private equity firm.

He is also a trustee of the Bessemer Trust, Bessemer Securites, Wake Forest University and the New York Presbyterian Hospital.

Upon his appointment, the new director said, “Our family has always felt so fortunate to have enjoyed a long history with the New York Racing Association. I'm honored to be able to add my voice to this accomplished board and to play a direct role in bettering a sport that means so much to so many people.”
