Pedestrian Hit by Bus on Route 22 Mountainside

MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ - Police and EMS responded this afternoon to a pedestrian who "was struck in front of the movie theater" on eastbound Route 22. 

According to the initial report from Breaking News Network (BNN), the pedestrian was hit by a bus and possibly "pinned under the bus." The report was received just before 4:30 p.m.

Two more reports from BNN indicated the Northstar rescue helicopter was on its way and the victim was being transported to the landing zone, where the helicopter was expected to arrive about 4:50 p.m.

NBC News was on the scene and reported that the pedestrian had been crossing Route 22, in front of the AMC Theater complex, when hit.  Traffic was reported to be backed up by more than two miles on Route 22.

The helicopter was said to be at a Mountainside school, about one mile from the scene.
