UNION, NJ – Roadwork is scheduled to begin on Morris Avenue on Monday, April 10, from the Springfield border to Caldwell Avenue.

According to Township officials, this is the first section of Morris Avenue to be resurfaced.  Work on the second section, from Lehigh to North Avenues, will begin in mid-August.  Roadwork between Caldwell and Lehigh Avenues is scheduled for 2018.

The roadwork on Morris Avenue will include prep and concrete work, underground and above ground electric work and replacing or resetting of manhole covers as required, and milling and paving.  Milling and paving will occur at night between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.  Some daytime work will occur during non-peak hours.

Additional upcoming roadwork includes plans from Elizabethtown Gas to upgrade the existing 20-inch cast iron gas main along Morris Avenue, from the train trestle near Green Lane to Colonial Avenue including parts of Colonial Avenue.  Township officials said this work is scheduled to begin in the next couple of weeks.
