Springfield Boys Basketball: Dayton Falls to Bernards Saturday; Return Home Tuesday

SPRINGFIELD, NJ - The Dayton boys basketball team were without two of its three leading scorers and it showed Saturday.

Junior Owen Loughlin scored 11 points, hitting three 3-pointers, and Luke Ballard added eight points with two 3-pointers to lead Bernards to a 44-18 victory over Dayton in Bernardsville.

Dayton (3-3), which was playing without seniors Nick Ulizio (14.6 ppg) and senior Joe Kastner (12.2 ppg), saw its two-game win streak snapped.

Before fouling out, junior Antonio Salcfas had seven points and senior Matt Kanengiser hit a 3-pointer to pace Dayton, which trailed 20-9 at halftime.

Bernards (8-1) has won six straight games and improved to 7-0 at home.

Three games, two on Mountain Avenue, are on tap this week for the Bulldogs.

Dayton hosts Johnson Tuesday at 7 p.m., travels to Roselle Park for a 5:30 p.m. Thursday tilt, and returns home to face Metuchen on Saturday with an afternoon affair at 1 p.m.
