SPRINGFIELD, NJ — The 20th-seeded Dayton boys basketball team will host rival and 21st-seed Brearley for its third meeting of the season in the play-in game of the 84th Union County Tournament on Thursday.

First tip is set for 7:00 p.m., with the winner advancing to visit fifth-seeded Westfield in Saturday’s first round at 1 p.m.

Dayton (8-9), who looks to get to the .500 mark for the first time this season, has defeated Brearley twice thus far with a 57-42 home win on Jan. 3 and 59-46 on the road on Jan. 23.

In both games, senior guard DJ Alicea has scored a combined 45 points with four 3-pointers to lead Dayton.

Alicea, who has 318 points on the season, has scored in double figures in 64 straight games played and his school-leading career total sits at 1,393 points.

Next up on the Bulldogs regular season schedule will be its Senior Night home game versus Delaware Valley on Friday, Feb. 21 at 7:00 p.m.
