Springfield Calendar for Week of June 11: Commemoration of Battle of Springfield & Townwide Garage Sale

SPRINGFIELD, NJ – Springfield will hold its first townwide garage sale the weekend of June 16 & 17.  Sale hours are 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  receive awards and scholarships. 

The sale is being done prior to the quarterly bulk garage pickups on June 20-21.  Registration is not required and there are no permit fees.  Participating households are encouraged to visit https://springfield-nj.us/garage-sale/ to fill out the registration form.  This will the creation of a map with the most complete listing of garage sale locations.

On Thursday June 14 at 7:00 a.m. there will be a “Commemoration of the Battle of Springfield”.

From the website of the Springfield Free Public Library:  The Church and Cannon Chapter of the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution invites you to join them for the commemoration observing the 248th anniversary of the Battle of Springfield on June 14, 2018.

The Commemoration Ceremony and wreath laying will take place at 7:00 PM at the DAR Cemetery, located at 39 Mountain Avenue (across the street from the municipal parking lot.)

Immediately following the wreath laying, the gathering will move across the street to the Donald B. Palmer Museum of the Springfield Free Public Library (66 Mountain Avenue) for a special presentation about the Battle of Springfield, Connecticut Farms & Elizabeth (June 6 to June 23, 1780), by John Kieser and David Siegfried.

In the event of rain, the ceremony will begin at 7:00 p.m in the Palmer Museum.
