SPRINGFIELD, NJ – During the June 13 Township Committee meeting a bond ordinance for the community pool was approved.  The ordinance authorized the Township to appropriate the sum of $1,400,000 to make a down payment on the project. This allows the Township to authorize the issuance of bonds to finance the swimming pool utility and the issuance of temporary financing in bond anticipation notes.  The entire project is expected to cost $2.0 to-2.5 million.

Construction is well under way.  It began after the end of the 2017 pool season.  The project is expected to double the building's space and be completed sometime this spring and before the beginning of the 2018 pool season.  The new building will include meeting rooms and a fitness room.
