SPRINGFIELD, NJ — Last week, the Springfield Fire Department responded to a tour bus fire on Route 78, helping the Union Fire Department.

The bus caught fire last Thursday morning, which according to ABC7 NY, sent passengers running off the bus to safety as the frame caught fire.

The incident made local news rounds, and Fire Chief Carlo Palumbo sat down with TAPinto Springfield to talk about the department's response to cover the incident.

Palumbo described how Springfield firefighters were working on one side of the bus, with Union firefighters working on the other side.

"Working together to extinguish the fire," Palumbo said. "Fortunately no injuries, which was a good thing. It was a good team effort on both departments."

Palumbo added, "I would say the bulk of the fire was knocked down within 40 minutes. Clean up took a little bit longer. We were lucky to clear, Union stayed up a little longer to wait till removal."
