SUMMIT, NJ — The Dayton girls basketball team gave it a run in the fourth quarter, but came up a bit short on Tuesday.
Junior Zoe Campbell scored a game-high 15 points, draining four 3-pointers, and sophomore Lauren Rusas added 13 to pace Kent Place to a 43-40 victory over Dayton in Summit Tuesday.
Kent Place (2-6), which snapped a five-game losing streak, used a 10-5 first quarter to take an early lead and hung on at the end as Dayton used a 12-point fourth quarter to seal the final margin.
Senior Michelle Bellino posted a team-high 13 points with nine rebounds, junior Aiyona Wood added 11 points and grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds and senior Haeley Santos posted nine points for Dayton (2-5), which has lost two straight and four of its last five games.
The Bulldogs look to get back on track Thursday when they begin a stretch of three of its next four games at home as they host Governor Livingston at 7 p.m. and Johnson on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
