Springfield Girls Basketball: Dayton is the 14 Seed in the Union County Tournament and Plays Home Friday at 5:30 p.m.

SPRINGFIELD, NJ – The Jonathan Dayton Girls basketball team is the 14 seed in the Union County Tournament.  Their first game is a 5:30 p.m.home game Friday against the 19 seed Elizabeth High School.  The winner plays at three seed Westfield High School on Tuesday, February 14.  Dayton faced Elizabeth twice this season and won both games.

The other Saturday games include:

The 17 seed Brearley at the 16 seed Scotch Plains-Fanwood.  The winner plays at the one seed Patrick School Tuesday.  The Patrick School is ranked number six in New Jersey.

The 20 seed St. Mary’s of Elizabeth is at the 13 seed Summit.  The winner faces the four seed Roselle Catholic.

The 21 seed Hillside will be at 12 seed Union Catholic.  The winner will be at the five seed Cranford.  The winner of the four seed bracket game will face the winner of the five seed bracket game.

The 22 seed Benedictine is at the 11 seed Kent Place.  The winner will be at the six seed Oak Knoll.  The winners of the three seed and six seed games play Friday, Feb. 17.  If Dayton wins Saturday and Tuesday, they would play the winner of the Oak Knoll bracket.

The 18 seed Plainfield is at 15 seed Linden.  The winner is at the second seed New Providence.

There are two brackets with a Saturday bye.  They are the nine seed Rahway playing at the eight seed Arthur L Johnson Tuesday.  The winner faces the winner of the game including the one seed Patrick School on Friday, Feb. 17.

The other has the ten seed Governor Livingston at the seven seed Union on Tuesday.  The winner faces the winner of game including the two seed New Providence.

The Bulldogs have one game scheduled before the tournament.  On Thursday, they play a 4 p.m. game at home against the Woodbridge High School Warriors (11-7 for season).  The Friday make-up game caused by the December 17 weather delay away at Benedictine Academy has been cancelled because of the tournament.
